You think you’re seeing your life. Mostly you’re seeing the ways you learned to get through it.

They were good instincts once. They got you here. They just never switched off — they keep running long after the thing that made them necessary was gone, and they feel so much like you that you’ve never once mistaken them for anything but the plain truth of how things are.

I’m Madalina Podgorean

A difficult childhood taught me to do a few things to get through it

— to always be ‘on the ready’ for the next bad thing, to keep track of everyone’s moods before they turned, to reach for someone outside myself whenever my own inside got unbearable. Smart, at the time. Most of it stopped being smart decades ago, and kept running anyway.

The work I make is about learning to see that happening — clearly enough, and early enough, that it stops making your decisions for you. You Reclaimed is where most of that work lives right now.

This is the home for everything I’m building: the channel, a book on its way, and the deeper work after that. Some of it starts with one specific kind of pain — a person, or a thought, you can’t stop obsessing over even when you want to — because that’s a door a lot of us walk through first. But the door was never the point. The point is learning to see.

Stay Close to the Work

I’m building toward a few things — a book, and something deeper than the channel can hold. None of it is ready yet. Leave your email, and I’ll write when it is, and now and then in between, when I’ve worked out something worth sending.
